Reflection on our Site:
Over these few weeks of working with the Pixies, I have learned more than just who Medea got married too, or what Atlanta is famous for (hunting and running, turns out). I have learned more effective communication skills. And generally how to be more personable on the internet. I usually work alone on most projects because I am afraid of being let down by any or all partners I may have, but these two girls did not disappoint. No one tried to shirk their work, or try to get out of anything. I put myself out on a limb, and trusted two girls I really know very little about, and everything came out ok because we were all in constant communication with each other, as well as very open to all the ideas of the group. I guess I should talk about the mythology aspect of the project as well. I learned from Jenn that Atlanta was a girl whose dad abandoned her simply for the fact of being female. But she was taken in by a group of hunters, and they raised her to be one of the fastest and best huntresses ever. She was, however, turned into a lion in the end. So lame. And I learned from Vicky Medea was more an evil sorceress than a hero, but she taught a valuable lesson about the fallacy of revenge. Lindsey provided all the excellent photos and the introduction: what is a hero? As well as amazing insights. This project has not only been thoroughly informative, but very fun and rewarding as well.
