Atlanta's parents were Iasus and Clymene, her father Iasus was so disappointed that he had a daughter he left her to die Mount Parthenon. Though her death didn't happen because a group of hunters found her and took her in. Atlanta was a renowned huntress with skills of a wild animal. Joined hunters on the boar hunt from Meleager's request; wound up making the first shot, which got her awarded the tusks and hide. When her father realized she was his daughter he demanded her to marry, though she agreed on one condition. That condition was that the man she married was to be faster than her. They would race a foot race and if he lost then she would behead him, though if he won she would marry. With the help of Aphrodite, Melanion was able to beat her. With three golden apples that Aphrodite gave Melanion, they were irresistible to Atlanta that she would have to stop and pick them up. Which in the end, made her fall behind far enough that she lost the race to him. But in the end both of them were turned into lion.
